Conversion strategies

Games that sell the service while people play.

Two minigames we built into client websites, shown here with the clients' names taken out. Each one takes less than a minute, makes the client's case better than a paragraph could, and ends on the client's call to action. Play them, then read why they work.

Fire and smoke restoration

Clear the smoke

Smoke pours into a living room and you tap to clear it. It keeps coming back faster from the couch, the vent, under the door and out of the carpet. Every round ends with ABATEMENT FAILED and a score you can share.

Why it works for a restoration company

Most people who find a restoration company online are deciding whether they can handle the damage themselves. This game answers that question for them in about 30 seconds.

  • It proves the point instead of claiming it

Telling a homeowner that cleaning up smoke damage alone doesn't work is a claim they can ignore. Letting them try and lose is proof. The game is tuned so nobody wins, not even an autoclicker.

  • The ask arrives at the right moment

The end screen drops in the second the room fills up, when the visitor feels most outmatched. On the client's site, the first button on that screen is their phone number.

  • Every share is a referral

Scores share as an image with the company's name and number on it, and the link challenges friends to beat the score on the company's own site.

  • It costs the visitor 30 seconds

A round lasts about half a minute and plays with a thumb on any phone. There is nothing to download and no sign-up, so people actually finish it.

  • It can be measured

The game reports starts, finished rounds, shares and button clicks as analytics events, so it's clear how many players go on to call.

Why it works for a pest control company

Pest control sites tend to look alike, and visitors compare a few before they call. This game gives one company a personality people remember and repeat.

  • The game is the brand

This client's whole identity is built on video games and heroes. A slogan says that. A game you can play proves it, and it's what people remember about them when every other pest company's site looks the same.

  • It teaches their values without a lecture

Honeybees show up on the board and cost you points if you zap them. Players learn that this company protects pollinators without reading a paragraph about it.

  • The pro is the final boss

The top high score belongs to the pro at 100% eradication, and "Let the pro play" shows them clearing the board without a miss. The takeaway is simple: you can't out-zap a professional.

  • People come back to beat their score

One hundred named tiers, a saved best score and challenge links give players a reason to return and to send the site to friends.

  • Easter eggs get talked about

On the client's site the game is hidden behind the Konami code, with a hint in the footer. A secret worth finding gives people something to tell their friends about.
